I am not sure if it may be a little different in your county or rather the county you were pulled over in. Basically you pay a fee to get into the program (Pretrial Diversion) and if you don't get anymore tickets within the specified time, for my first ticket in St. Joe County it was 12 onths the second in Marshall County was 6 months. If you go the specified time w/o another ticket (moving violations or other) then the ticket won't show up on your record.
You can call either the local police station or the prosecutors office to find out more information about that county.
This won't get you out of paying as you will have to pay to get into the program but is an alternative to keeping the ticket off of your record. Since I am only 20 yrs old, and I still had an accident on my record for the other 2 tickets, I found this to be a better alternative to having my insurance rates skyrocket

Man, NEVER tell the police officer what speed you were doing when they ask. They are trying to get you to confess. You don't have to answer. I always go with the "No, officer I don't know how fast I was goin." They usually accept that. Some ask why you don't look at your speedometer more often but you can explain that off too.
If you answer the question, then they know you know you were speeding and will be harsher on you. Always feign innocence.
