So the past few weeks I have not been feeling too well. Well the past few days have been really bad. I have started to get a really bad pain right around the bottom of where my rib cage is joined in my chest. I also have this acidy taste in my mouth and a few other issues. It may be GERD (gastroesophogal reflux disease) or IBS or something else. I called my doctor today and he wanted to see me ASAP but the earliest I could go was Tuesday cause he is in MD and I am in Philly. I am getting worried because I took some Zantac and it only lasted about an hour and a half. I mean, it does not matter what I eat, it sets it off.

jeez you should get checked out ASAP. It could be a host of things from gastro reflux, or a host of other much more serious things. If you can maybe a walk in center/ ER might be an option. I know up here in St Paul urgent care centers are open till 3 or 4 I would think that out east there would be something similar. What you might want to do is call the nearest ER/walkin center/urgent care, and speak with the triage nurse. They can usually give you some good advise as to what to do.

I called the emergency line for my insurance (where you are pre-approved to go to the hospital) and they said to call the doctor. We will see what happens. If it gets really bad before Tues I will go to the hospital

Woah dude .. that's another 4 days away  something slightly more serious could arise within that enormous time frame .... resulting in you not being able TO GET YOURSELF to a hospital ... check it out ASAP!! Please!

Just go to the hospital. You could be right, it could be that GERD stuff, or you could be dead wrong.

Yo, call the doctor back and ask if you should go to the hospital. If he says yes, walk on down to UPenn hospital. Worse case - you pay whatever the Emergency Room visit cost is (if you don't get admitted). And you get to spend some time soaking in some true "West Phily flavor" in the waiting room.
