One thing thing to mention. Not all board support the same size ram in all slots. It argued with a Pentium 166 PC for a while and finally realized that it supported a maximum of only 96mb using SDRAM which is why the two sticks of 64mb were not working in there together. They would work in either SDRAM slot by itself but not together. Found that I could run two 32mb just fine but NOT two 64's.

Check to see if there are any limitations on what size ram goes in what slot. Also some computers will not like double sided RAM and single sided together at the same time.

Well this is what I have found. All of my memory sticks work in slot one. However, none (including the old stuff) work in the other slots. AFter doing more research and talking with an employee at Micron. I have found that my model of compaq should support 128 in all three slots. However, it's not even supproting 56. I found a diagnostic program on my computer and it showing that the two slots aren't enabled. I am wondering if this is because the slots don't have RAM in them or if the BIOS isn't recognizing them.
Memory Module

SLot 1
Socket Designation DIMM1
Bank Connections RAS#0, RAS#1
Speed of memory in ns 60
Memory Type DIMM, SDRAM
Installed Size 128MB
Enabled Size 128MB
Status 0h

Slot 2
Socket Designation DIMM2
Bank Connections RAS#2, RAS#3
Speed of memory in ns 60
Memory Type 2h
Installed Size Not Installed
Enabled Size Not Enabled
Status 0h

Slot 3
Socket Designation DIMM3
Bank Connections RAS#4, RAS#5
Speed of memory in ns 60
Memory Type 2h
Installed Size Not Installed
Enabled Size Not Enabled
Status 0h

Does anyone know how I would check the BIOS on this and if it is the BIOS how to fix it? Or am I barking up the wrong tree and it's something different.

Usually Compaq's will tell you what version it is when you go into the bios, I think it is f10 at bootup. You might need to look around the menus for something like "version" but I forget.

This sounds like a problem that might very well be fixed with a bios upgrade, you should check compaq's site to see if there is a new one available.

Well I wasn't able to find the RAM in bios. I'll look some more. However, I did borrow some RAM from a person I know that works for Micron. It worked just fine in my computer in all the slots. I think that I either got crappy RAM or the CL speed really makes a difference. (my comp. is supposed to be CL2 and the RAM I received is CL3.) Also, the RAM looks completly different than the RAM I was borrowing so I think they may have shipped the wrong stuff. (It doesn't even have the Micron M on it.) This week I'll call and complain a bit. So now I'm back to 56mb of RAM unitl I get this straightened out.
