I quit about 8 months ago and it was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I would recommend the patch as it worked for me.

That is great! I quit on March 8th. I used the patch for a while, then quit using it. I started smoking when I was 14(I'm now 21). It helps to keep a list of your accomplishments. Since I used to smoke a pack a day at roughly $3 a pack, I keep a tally at work and update it daily while crossing off another day on my calendar. At the end of each week I take the $ I would have spent on smokes and put it in a jar. Check it out:

Quit 03-08-02: 77 days (I don't count today yet)
# of cigarettes I would have smoked: 1540
Money saved so far: $231

One other thing...I suggest standing around with smokers in places you used to smoke. A lot of people will disagree, but I think it works. Go about your usual routine minus the cigarettes. It's all in the mind baby! You can do it! I agree with Gator about the Yo-Yo. I have one that I play with on break. Good luck!

After over 30 years of smoking I decided to quit on New Year's day 2000. Now, some 29 months and 30 lbs. later I don't miss it one bit. For me the trick was simply WILL POWER! If you really want to do something bad enough, nothing can stop you! Best of luck to you!

Lot of good advice has been posted.

My story = 6 friends each smoking about 5-10 years quit on news year day this year. The bet is, the 1st to smoke even 1 cigarette pays $300 to be split among the non-smokers, 2nd pays $250 and so on, last one to remain a non-smoker gets the pot. No one has caved yet. It was tough not smoking at first but now I hardly think about it during the day. I have a mild urge maybe two or three times a week but nothing I can't handle.

I read somewhere that nicotine cravings only last 2 or 3 minutes then fade. If you can resist those 2 or 3 minutes for a few weeks then a couple months you'll have much healthier lungs i.e. no more breathing heavy after walking up 12 steps etc. etc.

Best of luck. cool

its my 3rd day of not smoking, started at 14, im 20 now.. after the first day i was ready to kill someone.. so i went and bought some nicoderm patches, they seem to work really well, havent had much of a craving since yesterday laugh

also, smokes just went up to around 10$ a pack where i live (scary aint it?) so that is also another reason to quit.. coughing up brown crap every morning is another good reason frown

good luck! (to you and me!)

I have been kicking around that idea all day. Hell, 140 days or so, I could have Leda struts and springs all the way around my car. laugh laugh laugh

I want to see how my buddies Neon performs with the turbo, you know, to get an idea on how quick my ATX is going to be torn up if I were to put one on my car.
