I have owned many dogs, and am currently getting ready to purchase a Neopolitian Mastiff, so I really dont care what about what an adult dog will do to my adult dog. It WILL handle itself. And I will socialize it to be acclimated to others, from a very young age. That is the whole idea with agrresive breeds, socliation is VERY important. (and I dont care, Pits are NOT a breed but a mongrel with poor breeding, flame away.)
BUT I must add that any dog that threatens my family will be dealt with firmly, whether I grab the SW .40 or the Ruger .44 SuperBlawkHawk. Friends or not, it will go down.
And I cannot comment on your state's law, but here in WV my actions would be legal.
