That's sort of a rough situation. If you're friends with him, maybe you should talk to him about this and ask him. Does he have a 10' chain for his dog too, or does he walk him himself when he goes out? It's sad when dogs have to get put down, but sometimes it is necessary when dogs have temperment problems like that. German Shepards are certainly not small dogs, and if a Pit Bull is attacking yours I'd be concerned about any children or other people who might be in the area. About how old is his daughter that let out the dog? If she's old enough to understand, maybe her Dad should try to tell her the situation and explain what's going on. I don't know....?
