For the second time tonight my neighbor's male Pit got out and attacked my dog while he was on his chain. I live in a townhome so the backyard is a "community area". His Pit locked onto my German Shepard's chest. He jumped on his pit to keep it from going for my dogs throat. As his pit bit down on my dogs chest, my dog went to bite his Pit and as he was on top of his dog my dog ended up biting him in the arm, badly. He has two nasty puncture wounds on his arm, but he doesn't want to go to the hospital.

Both of our dogs are up to date on Rabies, etc. The twist is that I'm pretty good friends with him. If it had been anyone else's dog in the neighborhood I'm sure they would have called the cops and his dog would have been put down.

Again, my dog was on his 10' chain, his pit got out when his daughter opened his door. I know that I am in no way at fault, and he got bit becaue he jumped in the middle of it to avoid his dog from killing mine. My first reaction when his dog got on to mine was to grab my 9mm and go out and shoot it as this is the second time his Pit has attacked my dog while it was on it's chain. He said "I guess I'm gonna have to have him put down", but I doubt he will do it. He lives directly next door to me, if it had been my puppy or probably any neighbors dog it would be dead.

My dog has 2 pretty bad puncture wounds on his chest, and 1 under his eye. He is not hurt bad enough to go to the vet, he is running around OK. My neighbor had 2 puncture wounds on either side of his right elbow, and a big scrape on his forearm. It looks like my dog got him with his canines, they are deep puncture wounds, but he insists he doesn't have to go to the hospital.

His Pit has a deep puncture would on his head, and my dog bit clear thru his lip. Sorry if I'm rambling but I'm a little shook up.

Please give me whatever advice you have to offer, I'm unsure as to what to do. I'm thinking about bringing my dog to the vet on Friday, and bringing him the bill for whatever they do. I'm pretty sure that if authorities got involved his dog would be put down, mine would be quarantined for 2 weeks, and he would probably get a failure to control your animal or something. Incidently in Ohio you are required to have 50,000 dollars liability insurance on any pit bull or pit mix, which he doesn't have. In a way, I wish I would have shot his dog but then the poop would hit the fan as the cops would come and I'm not sure if I would have gotten arrested.
