Wow, I hadn't seen this! eek

Like Trapps said, unless someone's been in all the branches (I think not), you can't take what one person says to heart. Each person has had a different job in his or her branch, each has been in the service at a different time and at a different place, and everyone has had good and bad times.

I was almost signing on the dotted line with the Corps when I got out of HS, but didn't because they wouldn't guarantee a specific job. I chose to join the Army at a 12B, Combat Engineer. When I took the ASVAB, I got a GT of 126, which opened up almost any job I wanted in the Army......but blowing things up sounded cool at age 18. laugh People will say this basic is harder than this one, but as someone put it earlier, the real military is when you get to your duty station. Basic is just a break down, build up game.

Like Pete said, each branch has something to offer. Talk to as many people as you can, and shop around. I had a great time in the Army and would have stayed in longer, but I got married to a fellow soldier, and married life in the military......ANY BRANCH, isn't the best thing.

My wife is still in the Army, only serving in the MD National Guard. Her GI Bill covers all her school, plus the Guard pays her as well. That's one benifit of being in the Guard over the Reserves.
