According to US INS figures, the average legal immigration rate for the past several years has approached one million people per year. To put this in perspective, we attain the population equivalent of an entire state like Indiana or Iowa, every five to six years! Furthermore, conservative Census Bureau projections estimate the US population to grow substantially by an additional 120 million people by 2050, mainly due to immigration and higher immigrant birth rates!
I believe that we have more than enough people in this country already. Continued immigration at current levels will mainly degrade our standard of living and contribute to the ill effects of overpopulation - more crime and poverty, a reduction in wage rates by importation of cheap and exploitable labor, a greater burden and drain on government and private resources, a negative environmental impact, more pollution, more overcrowding of our already congested cities, depletion of precious, non-renewable natural resources, etc.
I have visited many foreign countries and have firsthand viewed the misery and despair associated with these numerous effects of overpopulation. Hopefully, this dismal fate is not reserved for this wonderful nation of ours.
I firmly don't believe the proponents of massive, uncontrolled immigration in their belief that it is necessary for our economy! Is our only consideration on immigration to fill jobs? Can any American say that they are or will be suffering because of the lack of immigration? Are any of us being denied goods, services or other liberties because we don't have enough immigrants? How can the typical immigrant, a person from a backward third world country, save the most technologically, socially and economically advanced nation on earth?
In fact, only 7% of the immigrants coming to this country are utilized for their particular skills. Perhaps it is better that even these people remain in their respective countries, where they are clearly more needed than here.
Read Pat Buchanan's book and get some further insight on this very disastrous problem facing America today.
Tired of this BS?
Call, write or Email you elected officials and tell them how you feel.
They probably won't do anything, but it is better than keeping silent.
Only 7% of the immigrants coming to this country are utilized for their particular skills? Says who? Where are these stats coming from? Perhaps it is better that even these people remain in their respective countries? Maybe you don't realize this, but this country is composed out of immigrants. I'm willing to bet that if everyone on the CEG looked at their roots, they will find some migration at some point or another. What if it were not alowed back than? Should they all go back now?
Continued immigration at current levels will mainly degrade your standard of living? Excuse me for being alive buddy. Didn't know I was spoiling your life and surrounding. In case you did not know this, but the majority of crimes in this country are commited by RED BLOODED AMERICANS. Don't try to put the blame and generalize. People are people, wether they are immigrants or not, they act as individuals. Just like you.
