I was waiting for Terry to chime in on this one... I remember the looong conversation we had over coffee on this subject a few months back.
Does anyone know how fast you have to be going to get a positive pressure from the ram scoop? I think you will be surprised.
NASCAR and quite a few other forms of race cars take air in "downstream" versus head on... the reason really has nothing to do with how much air is being taken in, but rather how the air flows into the intake. To put it in simplest terms you are going to get more power out of a calm air then you will get out of turbulent air.
