Hello there.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I dont have a contour but I look around all the web boards just because other cars/mods/racing interest me.

I'm in Louisville and drive a mazda miata smile

So, which of you are Louisvillians? I notice some from Southern Indiana too..do you get down to Louisville? Anyone race much?

Most of us are from Louisville. We autocross regularly here at the Kentucky Region SCCA events. You have a great car for autocrossing, if you don't do it already, you are welcome to go with us. You'll get to meet several Miata owners. Only a few of us in the group have Contours also. I have an SVT I was autocrossing last year. This year I'm going to use a RX-7, (small, and rear drive laugh )

We also go out together pretty regular. Most of our discussions don't relate to Contours, so we started another board. It is much slower, but you can see when we get together. http://www.kyceg.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

I hope to see you at the first autocross. It is March 24. Go to www.kyscca.org and you can get more details. To find us, just look for a group with a chevy S-10, a few RX-7's and some Contours. We'd love to have you join us!

I appreciate all the information. I am a regular at the autocrosses. smile Thanks for all the info and invite though.

I could be wrong, but I think you may be someone who at the last autocross made a hand "gesture" to a friend and I and got upset with us for standing too close to your parking spot in grid. Something else had happened that day, like maybe you had run over something (a car part, or floor jack or something) while in the pit area?

Welcome eventhough I'm not from louisville but I am from Southern Indiana. I have been to only one Autocross event and from what I have seen I don't ever want to pull up beside a miata on a curvey road. At churchill hill downs they pretty much dominating all day. There was this older fellow that was just burnin the cones up. If you are a regular Do you know randy Domic. He races like a B mod I thinks thats what it is called.

Hi, Cindy's husband here. I believe you have us mistaken for someone else. At the last autocross, the fun event, we were in our '80 RX-7. We try to make it out to as many events as possible. If you remember a big silver boat (Lincoln Mark VIII) floating through the cones at a few of the events, that was me. Cindy pretty much raced our black '98 SVT most of the season. We have been fortunate enough to not have any damaging incidents at the events. (Though I did drive the tread off of the tires at a Central KY meet on the Leach Driving Range in Richmond) You might be thinking of Joe, who ran into problems at the last event. While I don't think he would make bad hand gestures, he wasn't in the best frame of mind on that day. His diff kersploded in the last turn, shattering the side of the tranny and causing a fire as gear oil splashed onto the exhaust manifold. I don't think anyone ran over anything though.

At any rate, don't take it personal if that was the case. And welcome. We always look forward to meeting new people.

Take care,
James

Indeed I could be wrong. Actually it was the the September 11th Charity even that I meant. Oh well, no harm no foul.

I remember seeing your lincoln on course. Was it fun to drive? smile

I also rememeber the diff exploding. Mechanicals arent fun. frown

yeah that was me who blew up my Contour mad

luckily everything was covered under warranty.
this year i'll be driving a silver 1st gen Rx-7 in CSP(yeah, i've fallen in love with the rotary laugh ). well i will be driving it if i could ever get it off jackstands and out of my garage. Hopefully it will drive better than it looks laugh

i think you might be refering to Pat, he ran over another guys airbox in the grid. but i dont think there were any hard feelings. he bought him a new one and the guy came over to my place and had a few beers. wink

Anyway, its great to meet new people. Come over and say hi at the next AutoX. Maybe you can teach me a few things about driving a Mazda wink

Airbox, yes that sounds right! There was a woman in this one tho.

Anyone do any other racing, anything other than autocross?
