Cardoc, you hit my point exactly. I was not trying to "diss" your exhaust at all, it's just not the right sound for me (I did hear one of yours in person, at least I am pretty sure it was one of yours ) I do agree that a dual setup is the way to go for optimium on an SVT, though. My whole point was that opinion differs, and not to get bent out of shape when someone doesn't agree w/ your opinion. My exhaust setup certainly would not be perfect for everyone, but it is exactly what I was looking for sound-wise, and some performance increase (though how much is unknown, as I have not had it dyno'ed since the cat-back went on) btw, for those that don't know, I am running a similar to stock setup, but w/ a 18" Vibrant resonator, running back to a custom rear Y, out to two Vibrant mufflers w/ 3.5" rolled lip, slash cut tips (kinda like borla tips, but angled) the sound is very low, but not too loud, nice and throaty, but not really any drone. And there is no rasp at all (this was the really important part for me) again, no dyno, but I estimate approx. 7-8hp gain (enough to feel, but nothing big)
It's all about balance.

Rara, point taken.. I think the duals on a Contour are a little overkill TBH. The gains are so minimal and the added weight of the system would make the gains negligible to a good cat back system. Trust me... My system weighs alot more than the factory SVT system due to the fact that the piping I'm running and selling is true thick wall aluminized steel.. Not that paper thin stainless like Borla and Bassani. Those guys with true duals have more problems than us... Only becuase the added weight is ripping hangers and also vibrating and rubbing against the undercarraige on hard turns.. I've looked into that very carefully and discounted the idea due to these restrictions. My system I had to add an extra hanger(which is already there) to accomodate the extra weight. Here's a pic of the pipes themselves.. Trust me, If you ask Mike(FUseface) he'll attest to the weight. I do not consider myself right on any occasion... and I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinion - But I know a thing or two about this and my opinion should at least count for something. I'm here to teach people with my knowledge.. Not to brag about what I've done and revel in "losers" glory. Good Day Dom

TRUST ME...A true dual system DOES give more HP....15 years in Ford R&D in powertrain and 5 years at Benteler(they make the exhaust manifolds for the 2.5 V6/'vette,Caddie )tells me that...whay dont they fit them? cost ...pure and simple.

Now that there is what I call a fine example of high quality crush bending! That's a fine example of qualtiy craftsmanship!

Hey, thats the pic of MY setup too...the day I picked it up. (quality...yeah, I gots the quality stuff!)
As far as weight...Hmmm..beats me...I didnt really notice (of course that could be because of my superhero strength...) ah..yeah.
BUT, I can sure tell you that he (cardoc) isnt kidding about the quality of the metal. Thick stuff. Darn..I have to get someone to hold a recorder, so I can record the sound sometime so everyone can hear what it sounds like...Like I said in another thread, I love the sound. Being in my 30's, for some reason I wanted a system that was a little louder (which is why I went for the 40 series flowmaster) right around 3k I get a little drone..which I like, sounds more like a V8 to me... I finally got some nice tips for it too...(the other ones looked like wheelie bars to me...but I bought 'em, and didnt fit'em on right) Like the new ones much better.
Anyway, hope to have the sound clips soon. Seeya Mike
EDIT: Oh...and BTW...if someone wants to do a true dual setup...I suggest the pipes i bought too...I dont know much about this, but wouldnt a dual in dual out muffler act much the same as an X or H pipe? Or maybe a dual in/out cat? Then, all you have to do is fabricate the front pipes. Believe me, the Cardoc ones fit perfectly out the back.

I don't get your logic here.... You're saying that true-duals have a negligible increase in HP/TQ, even though the most restrictive part of the factory exhaust is the cat FORWARD? Just looking at your setup it is clear that, other than an improvement in sound quality, there isn't really any advantage with this setup over a standard catback (Borla, Bassani). True duals will give you increase power simply due to having totally separate exhaust paths from each manifold/header all the way back to the tail pipes, without having to deal with a front Y (point of restriction) and a single cat (point of restriction). In addition, a true-dual with a properly place crossover nets the benefits of greatly improved scavenging. Yet your setup does none of the above, and simply adds weight to what is still a "quasi-dual" setup. You even admit this when you say..... Trust me... My system weighs alot more than the factory SVT system due to the fact that the piping I'm running and selling is true thick wall aluminized steel..
Sorry to hear that. Fact: acoustical properties of a high-grade stainless are far superior to mild grade steel (aluminized or not). Not to mention the tensile strength of stainless over a mild grade, and the fact that stainless won?t be laying on the ground in 2 years in a salt-state?. Not that paper thin stainless like Borla and Bassani.
I'm not gonna speak on behalf of Borla, since I haven't used their products in YEARS. However, tell Bassani they're using "paper thin" stainless and they'll slap you on the ass and call you Betty, ?cuz they'd make you their *****. The pipe used in this: catback is far from "paper thin" (I'd elaborate, but I don't have the specs in front of me, sorry). Try made in the USA, T304 stainless. Regardless, it is far stronger than any run of the mill aluminized crap that passes as exhaust pipe these days. Those guys with true duals have more problems than us... Only becuase the added weight is ripping hangers and also vibrating and rubbing against the undercarraige on hard turns..
I have yet to hear about this, got pics/real evidence? Let?s wrap this up. Your setup has ?improved sound? over stock and ?doesn?t have rasp/drone? like some aftermarket catbacks. Your power improvements are on par with the aftermarket catbacks. That said, your setup is much, much heavier than the ?quasi-dual catbacks?, while offering no real performance advantage. Do it all the way, and actually benefit from the extra mass hanging from your undercarriage. -edit- second page, biotches! :p

You should study some of your own clue cards Steve.. Because as I see it.. You don't have dual **** .... Hmm.... lot's of room to talk. (I put the asterisks there.. no need to have the HTML do it for me) All hail the CEG god... Does been there done that sound familiar to you? Ahh if it doesn't how's about I come a few states over and slap you on the *** and call you Betty?? HUH?? Somebody PUUULLLLLEEEEAAAASSSEEE!!!!!! put away the dyno specs and run the cars one to another and SHOW me the significant difference that $1000 dual setup just provided you. Hehe... I could buy another factory SVT exhaust and add nitrous for less.. And still kick any dual exhaust systems ass. Geesh... For that fact..let's weigh the cars... Hmm.. then we'll see the difference. Ever hear of dead weight? And BTW... I've seen both Borla and Bassani... And I've had plenty of time to bend their pipe in our machine and my aluminized thick wall.. No comparison... You can't crush bend Stainless.. Not that it's too hard.. It's too prone to tearing at the joints. It would be like trying to bend a tube of solid aluminum.. Good luck.

Alright, one more time:
Your setup is significantly heavier than a Borla/Bassani setup yet has no real power improvement over said setups. Aside from the "improvment" in sound quality, ask I you, wtf is the point!?

And BTW how do you know what power it makes?? Are you pulling figures out of the air.. Are you saying that no systems make power unless they are true dual? Are you too full of yourself to stop and see the bigger picture? I don't know because I haven't dyno'd yet.. Not until next month... And I'm not claiming what it makes.. Not a single HP have I ever claimed.. But others with the system have.. and that's great. But I only spent $300... vs $1000... and I can pretty much guarantee that if I went back to the shop.. Ripped everything off... Could still do something alot better than true duals with the same power output and less weight. True duals are a waste of time on a 2.5 ... You already have small chamber cc's and limited exhaust flow with the exhaust ports.. WTF difference would it make if you put two headers on, dual pipes.. two mufflers and two tips.. (20hp????) WTF is that... Would I even brag about that for $1000???? Not on my life.. And it don't even sound that good... Hmm... I hate to sound like Bret here... But to waste that much money on 20 hp.. I could think of better (engine) mods for the Bang for the Buck factor than that.
Geesh..

I'm gonna do The Right Thing here and offer to end this pointless bickering here and now. Unless you feel a need to argue about it some more, feel free to use your 1000th post to agree. BTW, I found a link for you.... http://www.shotimes.com/SHO4exhausttedb.html
