I have a question about the SVT's dual exhaust. I own have a 2000 SE Sport. I want to get a more throaty exhaust (closer to Mustang), I'm not hoping for any performance gains. My question is where (if) does the exhaust split from 1 pipe to 2 (a pic would be great). My plan to hang two mufflers in the stock position. Does anyone know if this pipe can be purchased from a national auto parts store (pep boys, auto palace)

I've seen used SVT exhaust posted for sale on this site for $100 or less. You need a bracket and a couple of gaskets for this direct bolt on. I put a new one one my '95 Duratec and was really happy with the sound.

This is what a stock SVT exhaust looks like, you can find them for usually around $100 with a whole range of mileage. You might go snooping through the Group Buy section right now as there is a Bassani and Borla group buy going on. Find someone in your area and tell them when they get their new one to give you a call. Trust me it is a PIA to ship, you have to cut it and that creates whole a whole new mess that you don't want to deal with.

I was thinking of aftermarket mufflers. But if i could get the whole sha bang for I good price I would go with it. Doe you have the resonator on still?

Yup, that is the big muffler type thing in the center. That look is with 12K miles on it, put on the car in Janruary of 2000 and taken off in May of 2001, so it endured 1 Kansas winter with the usual salt and sand.

Has anyone tried to traighten out that bend in the middle, WTF is up with that?

Umm that would be the gas tank silly :rolleyes: why do you think it's bent like that? For looks??lol... And personally SVT exhausts don't sound that great on non SVT's... Just an opinion though.

I believe that bend is actually BEFORE the gas tank. Just made to fit the body better. You could get rid of it but after that and new mufflers you may as well not buy the SVT exhaust. BTW, that pic shows the SVT exhaust up side down. that bend is towards the driver side of the car. The bend isn't really much of a problem its the resonator and the 'y' split that cause flow problems.

That bend is so it goes around the gas tank! Not through it (which would be bad - trust me ) Look under the car for a big black fuel cell right in the center uner the rear seats... This is why the bends are there and are necessary...

Also why it comes back to the center is to clear the rear suspension. Another thing you don't want crunching the exhaust (trust me again )

Plus those pictures are of the exhaust laying "upside-down"

The SVT Tour has the same 2.5 Duratec engine as an SE or GL.
The SVT exhaust does sound good on non-SVT 2.5's - I dont know much about the Zetec though.
