I think the deal with the clutch is like follows:
Take the black cars flywheel (Slightly larger/lighter) and resurface it and then take one of Chris' spare clutchs that he has laying around and bolt that into place. Should save Joe around $200 and have a little better grip than his stock (1982) setup had. But I am sure once it wears out he will stick a Racing Beat Stree/Strip clutch in because thats all he has talked about for a month now!!!

Joe, think the 89 flywheel will bolt up to you 12A? Would save us from having to source one from the black car. It's also 1lb lighter!!!

Chris Does it have a counter weight with it?? If so that would make things much easier...but if not, I'm sure we can use Blackie's.

Yeah I got the counter weight. Didn't really wanna use that though. Have you asked anyone on the RX7 forums if it'll even work? Do that before we throw a bunch of parts around.

This is from the Mazdatrix site. Looks like we can do it. We just gotta make sure the counter weight is right. Which one is right?
"NOTE: Excluding the TURBO, all the different flywheels and clutches, from 74 through 92, are basically divided by 215mm clutch (74-82), and 225mm (83-92), then by rear counterweight needed for the engine. We mix and match these all the time. This means if you want to put the larger diameter clutch assembly on a pre-83 application, just let us know - it is no problem. You just need to remember what diameter you have when you next purchase clutch parts."
