What size is your clutch? How many spines? I might have a deal for ya if a 2nd gen NA cluth will work. I'll start researching, you do the same.

Figure out waht you need for a safe, reliable race car.

1)Clutch definetly.
2)Brakes, James car isn't safe IMO.

Those are th only two things you need. Helmet can wait. Next, is the budget allows, what makes you go fast?

1)Tires
2)How bad are the brakes? Maybe, maybe not.
3)Is the exhaust completely rotten? Cat clogged? My guy won't do a street car without cats but my exhaust was way cheaper than $700. You don't need the presilencer, they're too much $$$. Find a used header, that cat I gave James, a good muffler and some tubing. If you spend $400 you spent too much.
4)Sway bars car wait. We can play with the stockers in the mean time.

Take my advice on race car construction. Don't do it all at once (like I've tried to do). Do it a piece at a time and enjoy the car in the mean time. Don't make racing dependent on finishing the car.

Unfortunatly in 83 they bumped clutch size from 215mm to 225mm. I can use bigger clutch but have to install bigger flywheel and counter wieght. and since the later flywheels are like 8 lbs. heavier, I think I'm gonna stick with the smaller size till I get light weight flywheel.

What are your thoughts on the RB S/S clutch and PP?? Think thats wht I might go with.

Anyone know where I can get someone to just make a straight mandrel bent pipe, with flanges to run between the header and a muffler for cheap?? And Chris, what diameter do you reccommend??

Alright, which muffler?

This one is cheap, should flow great, but will be LOUD!! Maybe too loud to meet noise regs- #1

Or this one, which is actually a regular oval shaped muffler(not the right picture on page) but it's straight through, will be quieter but more expensive- #2

The RB is cool. I'd go cheap if I were you though. It's not like you're making 500lb/ft of torque. Look around and see what's cheap. Get it running and save money for tires. If you can find a flywheel and counter weight cheaper than a clutch kit I'll give you my clutch and pressure plate.

And I quote,"a straight mandrel bent pipe." If it's straight it sure ain't bent! laugh No one does mandrel bending around here. I've checked. Get the header and the cat from James. We'll find a place to hook you up and then we'll have a test pipe made to replace the cat or just run the gutted cat that James has.

For mufflers, I hate to say it but, you might want to look at Flowmasters. I think it's the 60 series that is supposed to be the quitest. The reason I say them is that they have no glass packing to burn up. I'd hate to ee you burn out a muffler in a couple weeks and not be allowed to race.
