The Ford 500 is the Taurus-class new car announcement.
And..the Mazda 6 is coming way before 2006. 2003 or 4.

Sorry, but I won't wait that long. And a new Taurus SES isn't remotely "sporty", I see them all the time at the rental car lot near me.
Ford USA seems to only understand trucks and Mustangs. Not like mine!

too many quotes to copy and paste and refute. if svt continues to claim that they don't advertise, then they have a problem. seriously no offense troy but this sounds just downright arrogant. what i "hear" is svt is too good for advertising. i'm not even talking about mass marketing.
most contour (svt) owners here are not ford enthusiasts. the absolutely only reason i have an svt is my parents bought a 95 gl (see sig) and they brought home the contour brochure. i think there was something mentioned about the svt or i saw the v6 model and started researching it and eventually saw the svt on fords site. if it wasn't for the contour svt, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT A FORD PRODUCT. I would've saved for a 3series or a4/s4(currently my favorite). euro is where its at. and the contour svt was the closest euro contender for much cheaper. its not the dealers fault, its not the customers fault. its ford. they simply didn't push the contour model. all i see are commercials and ads and $hit everywhere for the focus. i hate that damn car. i dont believe ford should bring back the contour to build an aftermarket for us. ford should've pushed the contour, it would've sold well, and thus the aftermarket would've followed. i can go buy a camry and add a trd supercharger and include the financing in the monthly payments. now thats sweet. audi offers the supedup a4>s4, bmw offers the suped up 3series and 5 series>m3,m5, even lexus offers the l-tuned is300. i cant even believe ford built the focus svt. it's got 170hp, same as a regular contour v6. but because ford marketed the hell out of the focus, there's a huge aftermarket that naturally followed. i like the exclusivity of the contour svt but hate the lack of aftermarket. i dont mind driving around and seeing a million contours. that doesn't bother me cuz they aren't all svts. but having a million contours around me would force an aftermarket to development that i can obviously take advantage of. there would be a ton of different body kits so the regular contours rocking svt kits wouldn't bother me cuz i'd be rocking an aftermarket kit with countless wheels to pick from.
i have no intention of buying another ford product. the mazda 6 is still a maybe. its nice but has a small hint of jap influence (for obvious reasons). if ford seriously considered bringing over the mondeo st220, then i'd consider another ford product (and dont decontent the hell out of it. maybe goes nutz and have the option of having svt add a turbo. that would be sick as hell and impress the hell out of me. quality would have to be #1 cuz for the money i'll be able to get a real euro. give me a reason to drop 30k on a ford vs a sweet a4 1.8t that is very tuner friendly w/ just a chip alone.
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

Looks good let's build it! The 2k style Taurus has some potential for a sport version, base model looks good, a sport trim package w/ 17" wheels would be great.
Bring back the SHO with the same impact it had in '89 (225 hp mustangs and 245 hp vette's). Would have to be a 350 hp car today...
mark 92 SHO - 14.70 @ 95.47 89 SHO - 13.93 @ 99.7 (3.2L, all throttle)

Troy @ SVT,
You can build whatever the heck you want, I don't care if it has a million horsepower, I don't care if it has 2 doors, 4 doors, 10 doors. I don't care if it goes 0-60 in 2 seconds, if it tops out at 200. I don't care if it's a Focus, Contour, Mustang (yes, even the new one), Lightning, or even the silly Taurus. You can do all of this and still the band-aid marketing will not save you from the crappy dealers that you have, especially those that I have seen here in the Cincinnati area. I suggest you get off your rear end and call the Cincinnati regional service manager who I had to go to court to fight to get to fix my SVT contour and explain to her that her piss-poor treatment of your customers prevents you from being able to sell me anything again. Then call Lake Shore Ford in Chicago, where I bought my car and tell them to stop corresponding with me, as the direct mail that I have been getting does not make up for the crap I have had to put up with. So go ahead, build it, but I will not come.
Sorry for the tone of my rant, Im just sick and tired of hearing people at Ford / SVT (you are one, I dont care what you say)telling me that they are "listening". Ah, no.

I feel your pain,,,,regarding Ford,,,I dunno,,,they could be or not listening,,,the problem is that they cater to the uninformed ignorant people who dont really care about certain things. For example the focus groups,,,I think that they are really scary (is that why the Taurus's previous generation was so funky ugly?), they cater to them, because they are the ones buying in great numbers, so I cant fault them for that...BUT, that doesnt prevent them from catering to US, people who care about serious driving, not cruising in a straight line. I dont understand how someone can go from a Contour's suspension setup (which i think is awesome), to a Mustang,,,It rides like crap...but it has HP,,so that is the message Ford gets....I wouldnt care if the Cobra had 500 HP, if the interir is ugly as always, I wouldnt buy it. I guess its the muscle car's fault,,they spoiled people into being single minded about HP, and not a well rounded package..
He's chaaarging!!!...(add scottish accent)...

mark 92 SHO - 14.70 @ 95.47 89 SHO - 13.93 @ 99.7 (3.2L, all throttle) Bring the TR50 from down under up... 335 hp 368 lb/ft torque... on 18's none the less I would definately go for that. I needed to retire the tracer to get a bigger family car, and the Mystique is starting to get to small. That's why I got the car above... at least the sport edition sets it apart from the normal Taurus some, I actually like the rims and have gotten a ton of compliments on them (and the car). There are some other diffrences to the sport edition as well, but to the normal people who don't care about cars, I guess maybe it may look like every other Taurus. But I really don't care, I like it (certainly a step up from my Tracer) and that's what matters The Mystique may have to go next year for an Explorer for the wife.

It looks like they woke up and VIOLA the Pontiac GTO (and later on the Holden based Impala SS) They could easily bring the TR50 over and revive a old name, like Torino or something.
