I don't think it's worth it. You get extra noise that is not of the highest quality (mostly interior drone and exterior rasp) and about 2 horsepower if you're lucky.
Chopping off the end mufflers will probably result in a larger proportion of the sound being outside the car, not inside with you. It will sound better too. This is still only worth about 2hp max, but at least it should sound better.
