Ford dropped the ball in marketing the Contour in general, as well as the SVT. This is proven every time someone posts and comments that their Contour is confused for an Escort or a Taurus, or that noone heard of the Contour. It is the job of Ford's marketing department to promote and differentiate their product lines.
This is probably the whole reason why I bought the Contour in the first place- because I know that every Tom, Dick, and Harry doesn't have one too. If I wanted to be like everyone else, I'd go get a Jetta or a Honda Accord and try to soop it up by putting rattlecan exhaust on it with 18s. If Contours would have been overly advertised, they would have become a household name, and then everyone would own one, and then I'd be selling mine. I like to have the different personality. I don't want to LOOK like everyone else. If I did, then I'd be wearing Nike shoes and baggy pants too. I think many of you may like owning a Contour for similar reasons. Do you just want to blend in with the rest of traffic?? Feeling like livestock on a cowfarm. We like having personality, right?
