Colter, it's done. I snapped some pics. Basically it's this: 1 piece of plexi glass, bent 90 degrees 1 hole cut for the MAF, 1 semi-circle cut (so it sits on the trans. mount) I'm going to get some rubber tubing to put around the inner edges of the hole and the outside edges...it'll look nicer and sit a little better, too. email me: dd5junk@yahoo.com and I'll send you the pics. If you want or care to, you can post the pics on the boards, too. Hope you like it. I'm out for a test drive

Thar she blows! What do you think? Is that something you'd like or not what you were expecting? So far, it seems pretty effective. My RPMs don't plummet w/ the AC on (like they used to), which is good. I wasn't expecting that. Last night, when I was working on the shield, I could feel that my MAF adaptor was hot...not just just a little not, either. So, after the drive home today, I'll check and see if it's hot again. If it's not hot, I'll pat myself on the back.

I like the looks of it. How much hot air is it really blocking? It seems kind of small. Please forgive my ignorance. I have no dealings with heat shields.

Well, i figure it's blocking most of the heat that's rising off of the tranny and most of the heat coming from the engine. I suppose I could have made the thing a little wider (about an inch) and made that angle cut to accomidate, but I guess I didn't really want to interfere with the wiring/cables/etc. In theory, I could add another side to it if I wanted (I'd probably use some clear silicon adhesive). I didn't want to hug the filter too close, either...I think that would be restricting airflow.

I can understand the not wanting to build another air box. I may just have to try building one like yours once I get my CTA and figure out all the dimensions I need. One more thing. How close does it come to the hood?

I actually set up the shield so it would raise my filter about a 1/4 inch (it used to be sitting on the sheet metal below it!), and I made sure the plexiglass didn't stick up any further than the MAF electronics.

Heavy filter huh? I may have to try and build me one too. I really like the look of the plexiglass. It doesn't distract you from the rest of the engine.
