My car left the factory without a hoodliner, and I've driven nearly 35K miles without any problems. I like it better without it anyway, as most hoodliners seem to get rather nasty with age.

No problem with the paint, except now I can cook eggs on the hood after running it at normal temperature. That's just gonna show how much worse it'll be if the hoodliner was in there.
