If you switch to "AC", "Vent", or "Def", outside air is pulled from the cowl vent. This is what the passenger compartment air filter cleans. However, if you switch to "Max AC" the outside air is shut out and the interior air is recirculated. On Max, the filter isn't used.
What does HVAC stand for?

Autozone had to order mine for me. I believe it was a Deutch brand filter.

Glad to see Pep Boys lowered their price. Couple years ago the one in out area wanted $25 everyone else had'em for $13-14. Even the dealer was only $18 Paul

I got mine at AutoZone. They had no clue what a cabin air filter was. Told me they couldn't get it. The guy looked like the type that would have trouble with button-fly jeans and so had stuck with the zippers...So I went to another store. Again, they told me they'd never heard of the things, but they guy was swooft enough to realize that he was standing in front of a computer, and could search for it. *slaps forehead* What a concept. He had to special order it, but Auto-Zone can get them for you. It was $15, but had fewer pleats than the factory one. I will just make it a point not to leave this one in for 88K miles...

Got mine from Bill Jenkins, don't remember cost. Here's what mine looked like when I pulled it out the other day: Yuck! It was two years old. -Lance

but they guy was swooft enough to realize that he was standing in front of a computer, and could search for it. *slaps forehead* What a concept. LOL! The guy that helped me, realized he had a computer right away, but I know the kind you are reffering to! I did a little checking today, O'Reilys $18.xx. My parts guy $27.xx, and since I had Bill on the phone already (lighted Moonroof switch connector piece)and he told me $21.xx. Should have had it shipped at the same time, but stupid cheap me, decided to wait and shop around. I really wish we had a Pep Boys closer than 3 hours away, I have heard so many of you talk about it, I am jealous. I will try Advanced tomorrow, otherwise i will just pay the $27 when i pick up my Bullit fuel door. Thanks for the info!
