Anyone install one of the various aftermarket
LED brake/signal sets yet?

I've always liked how damned FAST those come
on. They're just instantly at full brightness
and you really see them. I'm just worried the
LEDs aren't bright enough, or that they'll be
pink, or you know... that they'll suck. smile

Anyone given them a try and liked/hated them?

I tried a set in my SVT, and while yes they were bright, and looked good there was a signifigant drawback. When you hit the turn signal, they make the whole system flash like there is a burnt out bulb, twice as fast. And it wasn't just my car ether, I have heard this from many.

I have the ones made by CATZ and love them..they are extremely bright at night, and they don't light up the entire brake light encasing, all you see are thest 2 quarter size(a bit bigger) red dots...looks good i think.
yeah they doo make you signal blink fast.
but i think that looks good too, as long as you can deal with the fast clicking sound.
the reason they blink fast is that the LED lights have a low resistance...just like when one of the filaments blows out of a dual filament bulb, so the car this the bulb is blow when it actually isn't
if your gonna get them just make sure you pay a little extra and get a good brand.
cause the cheap ones aren't as bright, and you can't see them that good during the day.
I like the CATZ ones or the EuroLite ones the best.

How much are the Catz tail lights? I am working on a new brakelight system. When I get it put together and tested, I'll post.

the CATZ are about $30-$35 a set depending on where you get them.
I think the EuroLite ones run about $25 for the set.

I tried a set of the Alpena variety, and they
sucked. Sure, they come on fast, they do look
nice and crisp, but... they're either not the
proper dimensions for the reflector, that is,
not beam-corrected or poorly corrected... or
just not bright enough. I will be returning
them, as I can't see compromising brightness
for anything else.

part number for the brake lights and front turn signals on my 2000 SVT are #3157

the manual says #1157 but it was wrong in my case
the way to check is:
if the bulb slides in then its a #3157
if it twists in the its a #1157
