I've been thinking of dropping the liner myself. Since mine basically rests on the top of the intake it acts like a heating blanket for it.

To relieve the hood heatsoak at shut down. Pop the hood. I always do anyway (it's so damn hot), but I have a garage... Also, as a fall back to my turbo days, I let the engine idle for a minute or so before I shut it off with the hood popped.
