The best security system for your car is a garage, and unfortunately not all of us have these or access to these. The one night in about three months that I leave my car doors unlocked someone goes on a crime spree burglarizing about half a dozen cars and stealing one withing a few block radius. The only reason my doors were unlocked is because I thought I was only going to be in for a short bit and it was still cold out and I had used about three cans of lock-deicer in order to get into my car the last time after I washed it. That time after the second can I managed to get the trunk unlocked couldn't get any of the other locks and I managed to crawl through. Total loss on the car $1700 between theft / damage. After insurance deductible of about $500 I'm expecting to get about $200. The assholes that did it left my digital camera which was on the back seat but took a $3 razor knife. I'm surprised I still have my floor mats. Assholes couldn't get my stereo so they destroyed it instead. I think that next time I'm going to find a way to put a dye bomb in the car. I don't care if the interior is purple and I have to replace it, but I think a cop is going to want to know why someone is purple. I'm probably going to try to get an eye prescription in order to justify limo tint. Anything that I keep in the car ususally is in the trunk, or it goes inside with me. Anyone tried lojack or had good / bad experiences with it?
Thanks,
