Only do it if you always race your car and you don't commute with you car. I'm sure your gas milage will suck like hell... I thought about doing it when I had the intakes off but decided not to because I know the car will be like a dog at anything below 3-4k and that's where I hit most of the time when driving around.

This may seem like a really stupid question, but if you pin the secondaries open, why would that be different from them opening at 3400rpm? Wouldn't you have the same effect at high rpms?

I can say this again. I was the one who posted first and tried it a couple different ways. If your car breaths very good IE no cats no res high flow mufflers good intake good filter. Also a EGR restriction plate your good to go. Car runs fine idle half throttle WOT it goes. My car doesnt starte to move until 2800 rpm's (it never did) but it goes like hell above 2800 so that's the scoop. Give it a try it might work it might not. It only takes a couple min and a few zip ties smile

It's not a question of high RPM performance. It's about taking advantage of the 24 valves a little earlier than Ford intended. The only way to improve high end with this system is to toally remove the secondaries. This tie wrap them open idea was thought up as a test (at least in my eyes) to see just how much we'd lose down low before tearing up the intake only to find out the low end loss was to much.

Sorry great ride. My secondaries were tied open at SZ01... With the SC is was no question it helped.

Check out the dyno's on a stock Duratec. The engine runs out of breath right around 3100 when it's just breathing through the primary runners/valves, causing a dip in power until the secondaries open up. Ideally you'd want the secondaries to open up a few hundred rpms sooner than stock.....

Those intakes are built like my old SHO. It's that way for a reason, long runners are great for low end torque and since the engine doesn't need as much air at lower RPM's it gives you the torque. At higher RPM's the engine needs more air and then the secondaries open up.

I found the best was to have a chip programed to open'em, up at 2200 RPM's. This way you don't lose your low end but you really get going right when you need it.

Yeah logic tells me that there should be a slight initial boost a bit before the standard 3400 but it really does pull harder all the way through the powerband. All my friends thought I had gained like 20hp lol! laugh

you could just put a switch on the module to open the seconds, inside the module is a motor that winds up the cable(on 98 up)it already has a limit switch in their too.so it wont burn the motor.
This way you could put a micro switch on the throttle housing and "adjust" the micro switches position to open the whenever you like.Plus you could have a over ride switch to return things to stock or have it come on with a flip of a diff switch.
Im sure all of this will cause a CEL.

Heres an idea, it could just be a 2:30AM with no sleep idea.... But, if there is this mechanical rod/arm thing that opens the secondaries, would it be at all possible to fab a cable of sorts to yank the arm open at will? Like an old car with a pull-out choke? Or exhaust cut outs... I guess I need to see first hand on the wifes car what I am talking about, I could just prove to be HOC. Then again, if its at all possible, I'm sure Brad has done it already....
