Given that we now know that the Ford FL820S is made by Wix for Ford Canada, unlike the supposedly superior Purolator made filter they get in the US, has anyone found a good local source for these filters?

How about putting in a mass order to a US chain such as Pep Boys? I can try to pick up some up the next time I'm in Michigan (probably in a few weeks).
Black '98.0 GL V6/MTX, tints, SVT airbox (sans fender boot), stock muffler replaced with spiral racing muffler, A6 side markers, Cougar 16" polished wheels w/ bald 205/50/16 Yoko A520's, Mobil 1 5W30, Castrol SATF/Ford FM tranny cocktail, 9005 high-beam bulbs all around, re-aimed stock foglights

Hi Gerald,
I'm up for that if we cannot find them here. Let me know 'cause I would probably order 10 or 12.

You know what really cheeses me off. I go to Canadian Tire and they have what looks like 4 different brands of Oil filter. Upon closer inspection: They are all made by the same company (whoever makes fram). The DoubleGuard has Teflon in it and we all that shouldn't be in an engine. Wix manufactured filters are what we get from Ford (thanks Chris) and most auto suppliers have them. The one oil filter review I've read puts the Fram stuff at the bottom. Wix about the middle, and the purolater at the top. Here's the link, though I'm sure most of you have it: http://members.nbci.com/minimopar/oilfilters.html

I'm striking out too. Maybe Purolator is not available in Canada? http://www.pureoil.com/home.htm // Chris [This message has been edited by Chris Root (edited February 01, 2001).]
