Well if it is near red you might want to look into a few things. First your thermostat. Very cheap and easy to replace. Then your waterpump and coolant. Have you had your coolant flushed? That might be the problem especially if you have 55,000 miles and haven't had it done (every 45,000) If you had it flushed your waterpump might be on the go. If that is the case you might as well change the timing belt also. Good luck.
