As a VW owner and enthusiast, I can spot any of these badges from a mile away... At that point I think you might as well run with blocky 5.0 badges to cover up that hole, would look just as bad!
If you GOTTA have 16V badges, get Ford ones!!
Sorry, JMHO..

I still have a hard time believing that hole is about 5/8 of an inch. That's a pretty big friggin hole man, is this badge stuck on with a bolt or something??

I checked on Zetecinside.com and it seems that the dimensions for those 16v badges (The ones int he first post I made) will most likely cover that 5/8 inch hole:
Dimensions: 2.5" x 0.8" (65mm x 20mm)
0.8 inches height will have no problem with that, and the 2.5" width will definitely have no problem covering that hole!

Pascal I understand what you mean, lose/lose situation I suppose. I don't want any damn sidemarkers! Rynn, 5/8" is what I got from others...prolly 1/2" maybe? Anyways, I think the problem is not the size, simply that they have no base...you could still see the hole.

I'd love to but I'd hafta' have two fenders painted then, and I don't even have a properly painted rear passenger door.

For 98+ Contours with a hole behind the SE emblem I saw a 16V emblem on a 98+ Mystique and I was rather surprised. I actually did a double take thinking that it said GL or something, but it clearly said "16V"! The best part about it was that it was the same shape and size as the SE emblem. You may want to head down to your local Ford/Mercury dealer and see about ordering some. Just a thought. On another note, I just ordered one of those 16V Mondeo emblems from Zetecinside.com and I'm planning on affixing it to my trunk lid where I used to have a GL. I hope it looks nice! If nothing else it will certainly be distinct from other GLs driving around. Good luck!
