I need new brakes too. Ever since the brake squeelers started dust has been building up fast.

Summit has got the B&M oil cooler for $108. I just thought I'd let anybody that is considering doing this know.

Those low-hanging oil hoses scare me. I'd never dare to take such a thing on a rough road...
That heat shield... does it actually shield any heat? I use a much wider one that fills in the plane behind the filter pretty thoroughly.
96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth " mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

Those hoses fit on there really, REALLY tight. And with hose clamps as well, I don't see them getting pulled off very soon. The hose the cooler comes with are pretty resistent to cuts and knicks. For 1/4 mile runs, paved road tracks, and everyday driving I think thy'll be fine.

The new hose can bend around corners better. So the lines are hanging quite so low. So there, all this talk made me spenfd even more money and more time. But doing it right is worth it.

[/b]I haven't got AWD, but I do have a two inch deep dent in the sheet metal under the driver's foot area -- it makes a noticeable bulge in the carpet, which I ought to pound down one of these days -- and I also have lots of nicks and dings on the bottom of my tranny, from just one drive over a particular dirt road that was covered with chunks of lava.

Well if your gonna being driving over lava chunks that can make dents like that, then I would see why the low slung lines would be of concern. But the oil cooler is small enough that there are many places to mount it. To all those considering one, the B&M is the way to go.
