Zetec is not an acronym like vtec is. In other words, it doesn't stand for how the engine operates within its design.
Zetec is a name that has been put on most post- split-port 4 cylinders in Ford's line-up.
But- make no mistake- not all zetecs are the same. The focus zetec and contour zetec are slightly different.
A more direct comparison is between the cougar and contour zetec.
