Since water pumps are a known trouble spot on Contours -- mainly on duratecs, but zetecs are not exempt -- I would get a new one and stick it in while the timing belt is off. My mechanic friend tells me this is a good policy with cars in general.

When we did mine, we bought the tensioner, but returned it because the old one was fine; it was the little idler that was bad.
