These are all things I will probably be doing! I am not too sure that using the dryer exhaust tubing from Home Depot is necessarily the way to go. I am thinking of either taking and adapting the huge resonator to work on the opposite side of the fender well or....running piping. You want to try to make the airflow coming in encounter as few restrictions, obstacles as possible. So exhaust tubing from Auto Zone and a couple of mandrel bend 45 and 90 degree elbows, coupled with some rubber piping joint material that you can get from your fav hardware store, would be kool.
Why do you wanna do this some ask?!?!!?!! Because cooler air works better. Ram air...ehhh....the cooler the air the better. Just remember to locate your tube someplace away from splashing rainwater...unless you plan on going with a AEM bypass filter.

'96 Mystique, Zetec, MTX. ---Mods--- Removed both intake resonators and airbox. Installed APC air filter and APC crankcase ventilation filter. Removed exhaust resonator. Installed XM Satellite Radio. Replaced bad alternator and 175a fusible link...much fun! Intake plenum---GONE!!!! My car growls louder than yours. If I can't buy it, I'll build it...Trust Me!!!!
