Ok...General consensus says that same year/engine/transmission clusters should interchange between cars. It also says that only the 2000's had the tach signal wire deleted. Well, looks like Hector isn't the only one with problems.
Well...got a cluster from a '99 Mystique Zetec ATX. Put it in...tachy no worky. Did a search, found that the tach wire should come in on pin 8 of the drivers side connector...I have no wire, and my car is a '99. Did a further search and looked to see if I had the signal wire anywhere under the dash. (The message I read said it was a thin white/black stripe wire coming out of a green connector above the fuse panel) Doesn't appear that I have that either.
Well, I've added the wire to the cluster on pin 8. Is there any way to get a signal to the tach. There has to be a tach signal in there somewhere I can tap into, right?

Ok....found another message from Hector that stated the black/blue wire (it's actually brown/blue on mine) going to the coil pack gives a tach signal. Spliced in to it...tach works, but only at 1/2 normal revs. Any thoughts?

If you don't have the white/black out of the green harness, you may find it coming out if the computer. That would be at the firewall, engine-side, passenger-side. That's where the white/black comes from originally.

hector and I ahd already found hooking it up off the coil didn't give a correct reading we also tried different resistors and couldn't get a change in the reading off the coil.
