Just under halfway, doesnt matter if its idling, running hard, or anything in between. Running 90 on the freeway, then coming to an offramp and stopping at the red light just off the highway, still wont make it go any further that just under halfway. laugh

Mine goes over half-way sometimes, going up hills and stuff. Maybe when there isnt enough air, I dunno, its weird. I just had the thermostat replaced and the fluid changed too. It gets pretty high.

From the time I got my Mystique, more than a year ago, until a few months ago, the temperature gauge always went to the halfway position, pointing straight up.  Then it suddenly changed to never getting even as high as the edge of the normal range.  Now, after having replaced the temperature sending unit, the needle usually goes to about A or L.  OBD?II reports the temperature reached by the engine coolant nearly always as about 192; this corresponded to the halfway position withthe old sensor, and the A-L position with the new sensor.

Moonlight Blue 1996 Mercury Mystique GS , Zetec engine, ATX.  No mods. (Well, OK, one mod.  Before I got rid of my previous car, a 1994 Tempo, I swapped radios.  I liked the Tempo's radio better.  That counts as a mod, doesn't it?  I also kept one of my Tempo's wheels to use as a spare.  I hate those stupid ?compact? spares that come with modern cars.  Does this count as a mod?  If so, I guess I have two mods.  Replaced burned/melted blower switch and connector on 19 February 2002 with a 1P3T toggle switch from Marvac and a Molex connector from Rat Shack; I guess this now makes three mods.)

Before changing my fluid T-stat and temo sensor it was regularly on A and L, but afte the change and running coolant sys. cleaner through it is usually on the middle of M. Its is usually about 95 deg. here.
