K, back to the question.....
You definitely have a chance, I haved totally murdered many a del sol vtecs with my zetec!!! was a little tricky, cause at higher rpms that vtec can start to sing, but by the time ive shifted and started pullin again, it didnt really matter, and like it was stated before,... you will get such a good head start that he will be trying to play catch up!!
