If the cluster is from a V6 it will function but the tach probably won't read at the proper RPM's. There is a resistor and diode on the back that(I think)needs to be swapped out to a different value for the tach to read the signal right. Transmission doesn't seem to matter from what I've gathered and even the year is variable. My cluster is from a 99 Mystique ATX...I got a 96 Mystique cluster for a guy in OK with a 96 or 97 with manual, so far its working good.
see my post on the bottom of page 1... everyone I have had in mine V6 except for the one out of the mystique... and ALL of them the tach worked and read correctly... just the SVT speedo doesn't seem to work on the pre 98's
