Here?s what you do since it's a friend.
1) When he's not looking(preoccupied) get under his hood and pull 2 plug wires from the distributor.(make sure you remember which one goes where)
2) Go race and beat him for all bragging rights.
3) Brag, clown, dis, talk smack, talk big chit, basically make him look dumb(all friends love doing that after all that is the essence of friends)
4) Either tell him or reconnect with out him knowing and continue to talk chit.
NOTE: It won't hurt his car just make it run real sluggish it should run fine so chances are he won't even notice.

I had some buddies do that to me just F'in around mad , I swear to you it took me like 2 weeks to figure it out why the fuk my car was running like chit. Cost me like 200-300 hundred replacing chit
ei. fuel filter/pump, air filter, oil change, catalytic converter,(someone told me the cat might be clogged) plugs/wires/rotor/distributor cap(of course I found it then)
Oh well it ran better,
BASTIRDS mad mad mad

I once drove to the store with a plug wire loose on a Mitsubishi, and melted the cat! I basically had to chisel off the top quarter inch of the ceramic in some areas, to unclog it. All that unburned fuel with create PLENTY of heat when it hits the catalyst.
