Ok...i'm a bit concerned about my motor, but i wanna see if it's normal or not

Press decently hard on the gas...enough to high-rev the engine...like when you would wanna pass someone (or hell, just floor it. lol)...then take your took off the gas...how long does it take for that "high-rev" to go down? on mine it takes like 2 maybe 3 seconds...i don't think it's all that normal...

Do you guys get what I am saying? Anyone have any similar problems or know what may be causing it? I'd take it to the Ford dealer, but I don't really wanna until I know I have a reason to...

Thanks in advance

Mine will drop revs slowly on occassion. I haven't been able to determine the cause, but I'd guess it has to do with all the emissions control stuff.

Unfortunately for Fords that is normal. Its called Throttle Hang and it is meant to reduce emissions by holding the engine speed. You can fix it (check the how-to section) but it seems like the majority of people just live with it. Other car makers do it different ways, electronics, etc;. I don't like it and no one really does.

Everyone says throttle hang is for the Duratec only. But I actually disagree and now we have proof from at least two of us. My car always does it, even with a CAI and exhaust resonator removed.

TH is usually associated with MTX. The one in question here is an ATX.

My ATX does it too. While I think emmissions may play a part, I think it is to prevent a hard upshift from straining the ATX.

I like it because when you have to get off the gas suddenly, the revs remain high so you can get back on it...

could it be the springs or whatever in the throttle body? that is what one of my friends said it may be

i will check out the how-to section once i get home (i'm at school now)

one reason i don't like it is cuz i have done a small peel-out or whatever at 30mph...one was when i was just messing around and one when i was actually driving. oh well

gotta wait till i get home to read up on this

oh, does anyone know how a turbo would affect the TH?

Yup my mates a VW'er he noticied straight away the revs seem to take an age to drop on my 2L MTX, which is no fun at all when on the line blipping the throttle! frown

Incidently I have a 2L MTX Focus as well and the revs drop as fast as they rise.
