OK, I've decided to redo the exhaust on my Zetec. I'm currently running a Flowmaster 40/glasspack combo that sounds good, but drones like crazy. I've already ordered an APEX'i N1 rear muffler with a removable silencer ( picture ). I'm also going to add in a resonator. I'm looking at a Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet muffler ( link ). I think that'll do nicely. Plus I can "tune" the sound of the system by using or not using the removable silencer. What do you guys think?

...or with the removable silencer, do you think I should hold off on the res and just see what it sounds like with/without the silencer? I can always go back and install a resonator at a later time.

I think you should go for it. It looks pretty good. I was going to do a similar set up. I was going to remove resonator and replace with a strait pipe. Then replace rear muffler with either magnaflow or borla...i can't decide but.....I think you should give it a shot. Let me know how it sounds if you do it.

I just have the dynamax bullet where the res was w/o a muffler and I think it sounds great!! not buzzzy, fart cannish, but like a balls-out race car!!

Dynamax bullett?Is there a link that i can see it at. I am open for new exhaust ideas. Race car sounding!!!! Do you just have a midlle resonator and a tip at the end of the pipe? Speaking of pipe, is it the stock 1 7/8" piping or did you upgrade to 2.25". I have heard of a lot of people who do this to their Zx2 escorts.I don't know what is better, i am just trying to gather ideas. I too have a 96'Gl although, unfortunately i have an ATX. I need all the good sound i can get so i can scare those hondas into thinking i have a race car

you can see the race bullet (and also get the best price on ti at summit racing . I am running a "trubo prep" system so I have 3" mandrel bent system. and the smallest size I have seen the Bullet offered in is 2 1/2in. It's basically just a perf core glasspack but it is VERY high quality and flows almost as good as a straight pipe.

If you can't remember its ok, but whats the item# of your bullet muffler. when you said race car i got excited.anyways, i will be getting an intake soon and i want to do my exhaust on the same day.......i must prepare to create my race car

the summit racing item # is WLK 24219. WARNIING my exhaust is LOUD, actualy i got pulled over tonight on the way back from the grocery store. I was doing 35mph in second gear and the cop said he heard my car two parking lots over!! I didn't' get a ticket though I love being military

edit: I did a little research for ya , and found out that Dynamax does indeed sell bullet mufflers in sizes smaller than 2 1/2 inches
(inlet/outlet diameter)Part #'s for the shorter(ie: louder) muffler is 24234 and the longer, quieter # is 24235 HTH

Thanks a lot for the research. I am very undecided as to what I am going to get. I just can't seem to decide. If i was to take off the resonator and replace it with a strait pipe, and then replace my end muffler with a borla, do you think it would be raspy? or fart can sounding? I need some assistance. I am going nucking futs

As far as I can tell, placing the muffler on the end of the exhaust gets a decently deep tone on decel and idle, but nothing like my system. My car burbles and rumbles around at low revs, and it just flat out WAILS on top end FYI I don't run a tip either. Which Borla are you looking at?
