I believe the pre98's are setup similiar to the 98+ regarding the TACH/odometer. If thats the case then you can remove the entire speedo/odometer guage from behind the face and swap between the two. Thats what I did for mine...no issues so far. The early cars may have some differences though. Joe, Email me and I'll send a pic of the two speedos from my two clusters...I'll bet your speedos have similiar(if not identical) part numbers as mine do. IIRC both of the circuit boards for my speedos have a 96 part number....errrr...engineering number...whatever you wanna call it. sqplus@my99svt.net

Does anyone have an instrument cluster (w/ tach) schematic for a 98+ Zetec cluster? I have one that I want to install but something on the speedo board is fried because when I attempted to install it the other day, smoke started coming from the connector. Do the cd-rom manuals come with detailed schematics? If so, could someone send me one via email? Thanks for your help!

My guesses judging from my assorted Mondeos would be:
Pic of strut: never seen, I would suspect its something for the ride height adjustment (optional on Mondeos; to keep vehicle level with heavy load or trailer)
SPORT: ATX Sport mode (vs. economy); toggled by a switch on the shifter bezel.
Pic of fan w/ radiator: Low coolant warning light

I advised this gentleman to post on this thread since I only have '97 manual and no scanner. Would appreciate any assistance from members that have done this mod. and have the info. Thanks.

I want the rpm gauge on my dash as well. I have a 2000 SE (zetec), and my dash looks just like the first picture in this post, it just has the mph, gas, and temp. gauge. Where can I get the rpm gauge.. and from there y'all can teach me how to install it. Thank you.. My email is j_dawg1084@yahoo.com

My email is j_dawg1084@yahoo.com If you have the 2000 chances are even if you get a tach it will not work. The newer Zetecs seem to be missing the tach signal wire. I am still in the process of making it work.
