As some of you already know I ordered a set of adjustable cam gears about two months ago. The gears were on back order but I got lucky from a customer return and my order got shipped out. All of my order...except for the installation 'tool'. Well, the 'tool' finally arrived today!

The 'tool' is a cam lock tool to keep the cams from rotating out of 'time' when the gears/timing belt have been removed. I now see where these companies make all there money...the 'tool' is a 7 or 8 inch long piece of steel cut/ground to a certain thickness with straight edges all around. How much does a technical innovation like this go for now-a-days you ask?? About $28.00 US!!

Oh well, the good news is I can finally try and put these darn gears on...so who wants to come over and help! wink

Hopefully I'll get pics up as soon as possible...next up...CAMS!

Sorry SQPlus, Denver is alittle far for me to come and help. But good luck on the change.

What is this world coming to if we have to buy a tool of straight metal when we can make one ourselves?

$28 for a cam lock tool is the way I would have gone too. I know thats more than my car is worth as a trade in but when shelling out the bucks for cam gears whats another $28

What kind and where did you get them? AEM? Esslinger? Can you make a How-to? I'm seriously considering this as my next mod.

I'm with D Davis. Been considering the gears and pulleys. I found a website for Zetecs, they seem to cater to the Foci, but I'm pretty sure they would work. I might be wrong though.
The prices didn't seen too out of the question. And they have free shipping.
Curious about the 65mm TB they have there. Think it would work?? Someone with more knowledge please check it out and let me/us know.

I beleve that the TB question has been asked before and the answer is no..the foci TB does not fit and it also has some clearance issues i believe

Sorry guys but you are out of wack here. The flat piece 'tool' is not to stop the cams turning and dont try to use it for that as you will damage the tool and the cams, its only to 'check' the cams are correct. The correct tool to hold the cam pulleys while you undo the pulley bolt is a 3 peg wrench that holds the gear from turning while you undo the bolt....Get a service CD....please!!!
