What would the effects be if the coolant fan was left on the way that it is?

If it runs all the time it may take longer for the heater to work in the winter. In the summer it might actually be better for the car. Overall though if it keeps running all the time it will eventually have to be replaced.

Both my cars have 2 fans with 2 speeds perhaps being A/C equipped changes the configuration.

We fixed the coolant fan BUT now (i just want my car) but now the car is idlein at 2000 RPM's which is way too high. What the hell is wrong now? By the way the exhaust is puttin out some very noticable emissions but is that cuz there were some oil and whatnot spilled from the exchange?

It's possible that the new fan is pulling more power. You know how when you turn on the A/C the engine revs up a little? The fan might be pulling more power than before for some reason. I'd try pulling out fuse #11 (computer) and putting it back in to reset the CPU. That MIGHT fix it. If not, the Haynes manual says that you cannot adjust the idle and to take it the shop. Hope it works that way but if not you can always go back to the same shop and they should be able to adjust it for you. Just tell them they didn't fix it right. wink

Have you taken her out on the road yet? If so, how fast did you get it up to? Did you baby it or tromp on it?

I ask these question, because there may be carbon build up in the engine or exhaust that needs to be flushed out.

yeah we ended up sending the car in to be fixed to the same place the engine was put in. They couldn't "fix" the problem. But acnolaged that it was theere. We don't have a clue whats wrong but this is getting tiring, its been in the shop for about a month now. We are now planning on goin into the dealer and seeing what they say, but i want to know if anyone here has ne clue on whats wrong. 2000 RPM'S when its idled and the tranny is in park is not a good thing, i know that at least. The engine was babied, i haven't had a chance to test it.
