You need to pull the fuse to the Fuel pump to bleed off the pressure from the lines and start the car.

It will die due to lack of Fuel you can then change the Filter.

You also need the fuel line decoupling tool. It can be bought at any Pepboys.

Good luck.

Your fuel line is under pressure. If you just take the filter off it will spray gas all over you. It's really easy to depressurize the line. Pull out the fuse (under the hood) for the fuel pump, mine was number 6 but the books told me differently, and crank up the car. Let it run until it dies. Then grad a handful of towels and get under the car and diconnect it and be ready for the gas to run down your arm as you try to stop it from running down your arm. Those little filters can hold a lot of gas. Switch them out and you're done. Have fun. I did mine about 3 weeks ago and my new filter had new clips so I just use a screwdriver to pull off the old ones. It was not that bad pulling the lines off.

i have to say that i've changed my filter twice and never have depressurized the system..makes a little mess but it does not spray anything...just drips out heavily at first...also the clips can be removed with a flat head screwdriver..can be reused but the filter will come with new ones....not second guessing you guys just telling the story as to not scare anyone away from doing this job themselves by making it more complicated,,fords are the easiest filters to replace
