is the resonator, the thing that looks like a muffler, that is directly below the armrest in the car?

I removed my armrest and I can't see the resonator! :rolleyes:

that is the res.... remove it and put in straight pipe in there.

would there be 2 muffler like things below the car, because my friend that the thing we are looking at is the catalytic convertor. The thing I am looking at is almost directly below the armrest, and it looks just like a muffler. Oh and I have a 98gl, I will have some pictures of it up soon.

no....your cat convertor is in the very front of your car.....behind the radiator running vertically next to the engine......you are right.....that is the res......the one in the middle of the car......hope that helps

I live in Fl and the Cat is no longer required. How hard would it be to replace from the res to the manifold. You have to cut the resonator out anyway and since I don't need the catalytic converter it only makes since to do them both. I guess my question is does the pipe really bend alot between those to points? I'm figuring that's where the real cost is, bending the pipe. Any ideas?

NO way is the Cat not required..check before you do it..empty it and just keep the shell


96 zetec gl.dynomax exhaust(self bent) KKM intake..Bridgestone Potenza RE-910's...other mods also
87' Ford Thunderbird..Now my daily driver ( the wife uses the contour mostly) true dual exhaust with the super mystery mod.(hey there not even there!) tinted windows and stereo upgrade. the $200 car is starting to be a great car

They stopped doing emissions tests last year. It might be required but... wink
