After installing the air filter and plugs etc, I'm noticing a definite sound difference when I floor it! I really notice it when I force the trany to down shift while accelerating!
It sounds like a deep rush of air entering the intake! Could it be that the engine is getting the air that it needs now, where before it was starving for air?

Anyways, to anyone who has yet to get an air filter upgrade, go for it, it workes great! eek

The Zetec never fails to amaze me with what it can do! laugh

you could do what I did when I had the K&N drop in cut off the bottom of the air box and remove all the tubing from the fender well and you will notice a better imrpovement with it.

Would that not remove the cold air intake benefits?

It would be better to just get the cone shaped K&N rather than start cutting!

More warm air is better then a little cool air. Alot of cold air is optimal but more air is more air there is still an increase in performance. Everyone seems to forget that when an intake is mentioned.

Yes and easier to.

I would leave the bottom on the airbox, because you get much colder air with it still there. If you take the resonator out of the wheelwell, I don't think the rubber joint from the airbox to the fender is that bad of a restriction, given the size of the throttle body and MAF. (Maybe it is, though. Jamming some kind of cylinder in it to stretch the rubber might help...)

I may try your idea of the cylinder later.

I went to a KKM after doing this and there was no noticable gains from it. and when I had my car dynoed with it like that the intake temp was 69.4 and then 69.9F on the first and second run and it was about 65F outside that day.
