I could go on....but i'd rather take a decent horsepower car, lighter in weight...then some tank with tons of horse power...any fool can make a Mark VII with tons of power....it takes some talent to do it with a zetec smile

well first off F1, WRC, nascar, CART, any type of pro drag racing they are MTX. and you look at 0-60 or quarter mile time on a MTX and then an ATX of the same car you will see the ATX is a full second slower.

Joe Hartley
"yes I know it's a MTX Zetec but it beats having a ATX Duratec"

Champagne 96 GL MTX some mods
dynoed at 114.2whp and 124.4wtq (pre CTA intake)
16.858 @ 80.76mph (yes it's slow but still faster than D Davis)

ZetecRacing,

actaully most of the racing series you mentioned use a hybrid tranny called a sequential shift trans. It has a stick (or paddles for F1, Indy, and CART) but no peddle, its not a auto and its not a manual, what they are is and $35large apiece eek As far as dragsters go they have sort of the same thing, only they have an individaul lever for each gear. Very pricey also.

Umm....i thought we were just talking like normal cars to buy and build up....if we're going into racing and such...i would've used much more tact in my post....sorry zetecracing hombre....

edit: I'd say stock for stock....yeah...MTX is definitely going to have the edge....build up an automatic transmission mixed with a high power turbo and such...i'd say the automatic works hella good in that sense...course...i'm partial...i have an automagical transmission as well

redhawk- do you know the difference between a Mark VII and a Mark VIII? probably not eh? you talk about me being "dim", you're the one who needs a new lightbulb my man. every time you type something about any car, you come out sounding more dumb and kissing more a$$ around here.

Mark VIII numbers taken from the '93 model which is the fastest of the bunch according to car and driver(including LSC model). 0-60 in 7.1 seconds, governed at 130 mph top end. oh yeah, all aluminum 32 valve V8 with traction control. (the one they use in the pre '03 cobra's). have experienced a high of 32 mpg cruising non-stop on highway at 65 mph.

anyone challenging with any zetec should have their heads examined. :p

Hmmm......car and driver eh?? I just so happened to be flipping through CEG once again and saw this...and decided...yup...to research...here's the numbers straight from edmunds.com and carpoint.com (i'd go get more...but im tired) laugh

Length: 206.9 in.
Weight: 3756 lbs.

Base Engine Size: 4.6 liters
Base Engine Type: V8
Horsepower: 280 hp @ 5500 rpm
Torque: 285 ft-lbs. @ 4500 rpm
Turning Circle: ft.
Drive Type: RWD

Fuel Efficiency:
4-Speed Automatic Overdrive 17 / 25

As for it's been known to happen having a Mark VIII going 30mpg at over 65mph over the long haul...well...no crap...if thats the case...the 2.0L zetec engine is good for 423 miles to a tank and 38.9mpg....cause yup...thats what mine said when i first got it and did nothing but interstate travel laugh

While we're discussing how silly us zetec people are for modding our cars...let me know....then i'll get into discussing all things Cosworth with you laugh

I figured Oh would chime in here.

I really would love to see the SS sometime...

Kissing ass? It's called being polite, civil, pleasant and most of all ADULT! You should practice the last of these as the first three are well outside your reach.

Why is it that every post you chime in on ends up with you getting slapped around? Its hardly a coincidence.

I gotta represent for the mighty Zetec!!
If you are gonna be at D/FTW for the Nat. Convention you will get to see it first hand. Althougt I will probably not have stage1 of what I like to call"the Madness" done by then (baby on the way and money getting tight) you will get to see what I have thus far. Teh car is really set up to be more a very proficient corner carver rather than a drag king but I haven't ever been beaten (stop light to stop light)by another N/A engine w/ a displacement under 3.OL...especially a big hulking car w/ an auto V8*cough*Lincoln Mk VIII*cough*, I spank my neighbors V8 explorer everyday on the way to work, he HATES it laugh
