Yes, it has one. I think you can call it a torque converter lock. One thing that a chip does, I understand, is to make more aggressive use of this lock so the power is going straight through much more of the time. The stock tranny program avoids this in order to keep the acceleration smooth. I gather that the chip lets each shift give you a jolt just like a manual.
