3000rpm shifts when cold. 3k-4k normal city. Redline at least once a day. Not for the engine, but the clutch and diff savings is why I don't run though the gears every time.

Around town, I match revs (i.e: No clutch) around 2000-2500 revs? I think I've been driving an SVT Contour in one form or another for too long.
Otherwise - redline and back everytime.

You guys are weak.. I hit the rev limiter nearly everytime I drive, and I shift right around 6500 (unless the g/f is in the car, then it's around 5500). 40K miles, and the car's running like a champ. First 1000 miles were the only time the car never saw above 4000rpm, nearly killed me keeping it under control

After warming up, I bounce it off the rev limiter or close to it in every gear. I love driving through town at 5500 RPMs and hearing the exhaust. I have 78k miles no problems yet. On the highway its 3.9k RPMs, right before the secondaries kick in.

Otherwise - redline and back everytime. THis "no clutch" matching revs thing interests me. Is it possible to find the sweet spots without grounding the hades out of your gears?

Yes, that's called practice. Originally posted by BLK98.5SVT: THis "no clutch" matching revs thing interests me. Is it possible to find the sweet spots without grounding the hades out of your gears?

Well I must say, I hammer the hell out of my car. I've racked on about an honest 400 miles of Solo 1 road racing and about 7 Solo 2 events to date since I purchased the car March of 2000, definately alot of hard right sweepers. What I do is if the oil level is near max I just go ahead and add about 3/4 of oil more to the engine and it seems to have worked for me so far. Hope I don't JINK's myself into an engine failure by saying this....LOL

it works pretty easily. if you can time your shifts precisely, then its really simple. Just pop it out of gear, and apply a little pressure to the gear you want it in. When the RPMs and the wheelspeed match up, it almost just floats right in. works perfectly for me if I pay attention, except I can almost never get 4th to work.
