I went to a junkyard today and got a perfect cluster with only 60K on it, but alas, my 95 MTX is cable driven speedo, and the cluster I must be electronic because there is no inlet for a cable on the back. Oh well. I guess I will have to look for an older donor car. Is swapping the circuit boards ez? u are referring to the board inside the clusters, correct?

Thanks...

Joe,

Roger that...next time I'm there I'll check it out. You and JountourSVT might try working something out...sounds like he got a cluster he can't use...I'll bet you could use it.

Swapping the boards on my car(98.5) was easy, yes, on the earlier cars it might be a bigger problem. I've never looked so I can't say for sure. With my car the whole board comes off with three torx head bolts...thats it. If I can get a pic hosted I'll post the pics I took of the install up here. laugh

No. It was changed part way in 96 I believe. There is a date for it.

I found a cluster for $50 from a place a mile from my apt! Before buying it I need to know, can you swap odometers?

Mine is a '96 Contour GL, the new cluster is from a '95 Mystique. The new cluster has 135k, mine has 91k. Also, will I run into speedo cable issues?

yes, those were the only ones that were OBD I 96 and newer were OBD II and were not cable driven.

FWIW I have a tach cluster from a 96 Zetec. Lemme know what year you have. If you get a car with the same year you're allright.
