I emailed Bill some time ago about buying the guages etc but there are quite a few parts that make up the cluster and buying them from Ford would just be ridiculous. I don't know if you've ever taken the cluster apart but each little doo da has a part number for it. Email me and I'll send you a diagram I found that shows the guages exploded...should give you a better idea.

I'm not positive but almost nothing would transfer from you old guages to the new cluster...actually...the fuel and temp could work. But the circuit, speedo, tach, and maybe another circuit or its components would have to be bought new...not really worth it since you wouldn't be sure what exactly you needed. frown

well I guess I will go with my original plan... get a gauge pod for the A piller and get a 2 1/16" autometer mini tach from their performance series #2698 and an air fuel ratio gauge and the voltage gauge to fill it up.

Well in Tour the guages are all analog including the odometer so wouldn't you be able to change the mileage on the new one some how? I hear about sneaky car dealers turning them back so couldn't you turn one up too?

Are you guys going to carparts.com or
car-parts.com?

They are two very different places.

You shouldn't find any aftermarket parts at
Car-parts.com since it's a salvage yard inventory system.

OMG!!...I'm a moron. Didn't notice that dash you put in there. This site makes a lot more since...thanks a million Lee. laugh

Edit: Get this, did the search and there are four potential listings for clusters...and they're all at the same place...AND this is the same place I've always looked for Contour parts!! I know exactly where it is! What are the odds of that!

Well, I've pretty much desided that I'm not doing to end up with an SVT. I'm going to have 95 Mystique that is highly contented with SVT parts.

The problem is with the amount of time required to cut both cars an make sure everything is put back together right. All of that would be just to have a VIN number that said the car is a 2000 SVT Contour. I don't really see the end justifying the means on that. So I am going to strip the Mystique of all it's parts and paint the frame Tropic Green. I'll then start transplanting all the SVT parts onto the new frame. In the end I'll have a 2000 SVT Contour it's just going to be registered as a 95 Mystique LS.

If you look at this pic. You can see that the only thing that needs replacing is the Inner frame rail on the Mystique.

This is much easier than putting a whole new front end on the car. Plus my uncle can do this repair in no time as opposed to having to set asside a large chunk of time to replace the front of the car.

Painting and re assemly will on the whole be a no brainer. I'm doing some custom work to the body like filling the rear seams removing the key hole and shaving the antenna as well as filling the rain lines off the roof. The painting might end up with a pearl undercoat to give it a little more shine and sparkle.

The stock exhaust is toast. It's crushed behind the left door. So I'll "have to" get a true dual setup for it. The only other things needed at this point are rims, since I sold the others. And a BAT Kit since the SVT suspension is going on the Zetec.

I hope to have all this accomplished in 3 months time. Thanks for the interest.

no offense, but wouldn't it be easier to just buy an authentic svt 'tour? having a fake "mercury" svt is, in my mind, retarded. what's the point? kind of like building a 4-cyl. mustang into a '93 cobra or something. to each his own though.

i will always have a comeback! :o)
